Raised Surfaces series

Contrast has always been an integral part of my work but never so much as on these panels. Each of these water-scapes, tree-scapes or pastures has an area that is heightened and irregular. The shallow areas have numerous translucent layers of intense colour that provide the illusion of implied depth; but the elevated sections provide actual thickened, lumps of wax that are often muted in hue.
